Top Ten Things to do in Daytona Beach
From Learning to Surf with Daytona Beach Surfing Lessons to The Daytona Lagoon, it’s all here in “The Top Ten Things to do in Daytona Beach”. Once considered just a party town, Daytona Beach’s reputation for wild and relentless spring break rendezvous and annoyed residents has evolved to a place that everybody can enjoy.
1. Learning to Surf – Looking for a little a west coast inspired action while in Daytona? Daytona is great and not over crowded place to practice your hang ten. Always wanted to learn to surf and haven’t yet worked up the nerve? Try the Daytona Beach Surfing Lessons. Their website will inspire you to get out there and join the Fun Today!
2. Daytona 500 International Speedway- A trip to the Daytona Beach area would not be complete without a visit to this infamous NASCAR racetrack. To many, the Daytona 500 represents NASCAR’s most prestigious race- but several other well-known races take place here, including the Coke Zero 400 each July and the Daytona 200, the most renowned race in motorcycle history. The speedway offers guests the choice of three individual tours that allow racing enthusiasts inside the guts of the premier racetrack.
3. Daytona Flea and Farmers Market- Rated one of the best flea markets in the south, the Daytona Flea and Farmers Market boasts over 500 vendors and over 1000 indoor and outdoor booths. Merchandise ranges from the new and used and includes home décor, jewelry, collector’s items and sports memorabilia. The Market is open every Friday thru Sunday, rain or shine. Parking and admission are both free. Dogs are welcome, but must be constrained in a cart or carrier.
4. The Beach- What’s a beach vacation without stepping foot on the actual beach? Daytona beach prides itself on a 23 mile long stretch of sand and surf that’s perfect for swimming, water sports or lounging around enjoying the spectacular view. This is Florida at its finest.
5. Daytona Lagoon- Not into the sand and surf but still want to get your feet wet? Then the Daytona Lagoon is the place for you. This family-friendly water park and entertainment center is impressive in size and nature, and addition to water attraction it offers laser-tag and go-karts among other activities. This is a place where parents and kids alike will leave squealing with delight.
6. Golf – The majority of people that migrate to the state of Florida have in common is their golf swing. Feel like bringing your game on vacation? Then check out the several golf courses of Daytona. Most offer cheaper admission rates at night- and most offer practice ranges and rental equipment.
7. Deep Sea Fishing- Spend the day out in the open and let your vision be graced by sea turtles, playful dolphins, the occasional shark and whales. Just remember to bring crackers and ginger ale in case the winds pick up!
8. Daytona Night Clubs – One of the most unique features of Daytona Beach is the varying nature of its nightlife. Some bars and clubs offer the latest in drinks and music. Others like The Ocean Deck, pride themselves on making you feel like you’re lost in the Caribbean. Sandals, shorts and live reggae music will bring you dancing straight from the beach!
9. The Boardwalk – Under this Daytona Beach boardwalk, you’ll find small shops, an outdoor basketball court and for the braver few of you, ghost tours of the city are available here.
10. Ponce DeLeon Lighthouse – Take a tour of the second tallest lighthouse of the nation and the tallest in Florida. If you’ve got it in you, climb the 200 steps to the top and check out the spectacular views.
Regardless, if you choose to take some of these suggestions like learning to surf, or just lie on the beach for your entire stay, Daytona is a place that you’ll want to revisit time and time again.
